Chickenpox is a common disease and mostly affects children, although you can get it at any age. It usually gets better by itself after 1 to 2 weeks without needing to see a GP. If you get chickenpox as an adult then symptoms tend to be similar in type but worse in severity which is why people often prefer their children to have it while they’re young.

Chickenpox is very easily transmitted: you can catch chickenpox by being in the same room as someone with it. It’s also spread by touching clothes or bedding that has fluid from the blisters on them. For more information, about chickenpox click here.

The chickenpox vaccine isn’t normally available on the NHS as it isn’t included in the national vaccination programme.

It was nice to see Ben, he said my leg's all better now.

Thank you for being amazing!
