Have you heard of TerraCycle?
TerraCycle offers free recycling programmes funded by brands, manufacturers, and retailers around the world to help you collect and recycle your hard-to-recycle waste. Here at Carnforth Pharmacy we have signed up to recycle used blister packs. With the help of yourselves, TerraCycle is able to Eliminate the Idea of Waste. The collected blister packs will not end up as litter, in landfill or incineration, instead, new materials and products will be made from the hard-to-recycle waste. The collected blister packs are worth money.
TerraCycle’s recycling programme gives Carnforth Pharmacy the opportunity to earn points which can be redeemed into a charitable donation to any school, charity or non-profit. Carnforth Pharmacy has opted for Mummy’s Star as our chosen charity. This is because it is a charity close to our hearts. Mummy’s Star is the only charity in the UK and Ireland dedicated to supporting women and their families where the mother is diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy or within 12 months after giving birth. One of our very close friends has been on this heartbreaking journey and although she is all clear from a physical health point of view, it is the mental health and wellbeing that needs continual care and support in order to keep this mum happy and healthy for herself and her family. Mummy’s Star was there for her and without them, I’m not sure she would be as strong as she is today. So please take the time to collect up your empty blister packs and bring them into the pharmacy at your own convenience.
Once we have filled a box it is sent off to TerraCycle who will provide us with virtual points in which we will turn into money and donate to Mummy’s Star. Thank you for supporting us with this.
